Reporting to the Projects Director
Overall Purpose
To plan and maintain all pumping station plant, equipment and buildings.
Duties, Tasks & Responsibilities:-
- Maintenance of pumping plant and associated control equipment
- Liaise with OS to ensure adequate manpower and resources are available
- Liaise with OS regarding the Fitters/ Assistant Pump Engineers work programme
- Investigate and advise on the purchase of new plant, equipment and software
- Organise and supervise external contractors
- Liaise with equipment Insurance inspectors
- Draw up and prepare relevant specifications and contract documents
- Liaise with EA officers relating to the Black Sluice Pumping Station and control of the SFF Drain water levels
- Attend relevant meetings to ascertain priorities and policies of the Board
- Attend breakdowns and carry out general repair works to pumping station equipment
- Locate and order spare parts
- Monitor and act upon the workforce operatives pumping station inspection reports
- Organise trials on Dual Drive gearboxes
- Monitor telemetry system, 7 days a week
- Control security of pumping stations
- Call out work force when required
- Develop new systems throughout
- Work in close co-ordination with the Pump Engineers Assistant on all aspects of the role but in particular the mechanical side
- Budgets
- Attend relevant meetings to ascertain priorities and policies of the Board
- Any other duties that are reasonably asked of you
